Kuluya and Nokia to Launch Mobile Gaming in Africa

Kuluya and Nokia will launch the games on the Asha and Lumia mobile devices.

Nigerian online and mobile casino platform, Kuluya, has signed a deal with Nokia that will see its games launched on the mobile telephone manufacturer's Asha and Lumia devices.

The partnership deal is expected to open many opportunities for the mobile gaming market in Africa.

Kuluya to Launch Oga at the Top

The first game to be launched as part of the partnership for Kuluya mobile gambling is Oga at the Top which will be available from the Nokia Windows Store. The game is Kuluya's most popular game out of their 65 titles. The game was developed and launched by Kuluya's team within three days and in the first 72 hours after its release, it registered more than 60,000 plays.

"Oga at the Top is one of our biggest successes, so it seemed only fitting to celebrate our joint venture with Nokia with launching it as our first game," commented Emmanuel Oluwatosin, Partner Manager, Nokia, West Africa. "A great platform deserves a great game. We look forward to launching more Kuluya games onto the Nokia Windows Store in the coming months."

African Mobile Gambling on the Rise

This deal comes at a time when mobile gambling in Africa is on the rise. In many regions of the country, people rely on mobile devices to go online; however most people cannot afford Apple devices, thus relying on others.

"We know that gaming will explode across the continent of Africa, just as it has in the West, usurping other forms of entertainment to become a multi-billion dollar generating industry," stated Kunle Ogungbamila, CEO of Kuluya.

"We also know that mobile is the prominent platform for content distribution in Africa, be it movies, news, music and, in this instance, gaming, so we see this partnership with Nokia as the beginning of an exciting and mutually beneficial content/ platform relationship of the future."

Oluwatosin from Nokia, added his positive outlook on the deal, citing the great potential that the company sees in Africa. "We are excited at the fact that the youths are looking inwards and taking advantage of the opportunities that are in abundance. Kuluya is leading the way in this regard and we are happy to work with them in providing great games for our customers."

Kulya games attract players from all across Africa, including Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya and Senegal and with the Oga at the Top game available as a free download, it is expected to become popular in a short period of time.
