Kenya Hotel and Casino Hosts African Travel Gala

Numerous casinos around the continent contribute to the entertainment industry.

The Safari Park Hotel and Casino in Namibia held the 20th annual World Travel Awards Africa Gala Ceremony on October 16. For the first time in Kenya, the awards ceremony celebrates and acknowledges the achievements of travel brands and products across the continent.

Kenya Hotel and Casino Ideal Location for Awards

The Safari Park Hotel and Casino was the ideal location for the World Travel Awards ceremony in Africa as Nairobi continues to develop and grow within the African hospitality industry.

"The selection of our host destination county and host venue is fundamental to the success of our awards program, and Nairobi, as a vibrant and progressive city, brimming with opportunities, ticks all the boxes," commented Graham E. Cooke, President of World Travel Awards.

"The resort itself is one of the very best of our host venues worldwide and we are delighted that they are embracing the World Travel Awards for our Africa ceremony."

The Safari Park Hotel and Casino includes 204 guest rooms, 20 conference and meeting rooms, five specialty restaurants and a fantastic entertainment center that includes The Piano Bar, Hemingway's Lounge, The Cat's Club and King Solomon's Mine Casino. The Paradise Casino can be found on its own premises within the beautifully sculpted 50 acres of the hotel resort. It includes popular casino games such as blackjack, roulette, baccarat, pontoon, poker and more than 100 slots machines.

African Ceremony Part of a Worldwide Event

The Africa Gala Ceremony was one of the ceremonies that make up the worldwide World Travel Awards event. Tourism and hospitality organizations came from 31 countries around Africa to compete in 47 awards categories, including Africa's Leading Hotel, Africa's Leading Destination and Africa's Leading Airline.

Winners from Africa include Fairmont Hotel and Resorts for Kenya's Leading Hotel Brand, while Serena Hotels took Africa's Leading Hotel Brand.

"I would like to congratulate all of our winners this evening, and wish them the best of luck in the Grand Final later this year," announced Mr. Cooke after the ceremony.

The Africa Gala Ceremony was the last stop before the Grand Final, with events already having taken place in Dubai, the Maldives, Peru, Turkey and Antigua. The Grand Final event will take place on November 30 at the La Cigale Hotel in Doha. Known as the "Oscars of the Travel Industry," the grand final will host 750 travel and hospitality professionals from around the world.
