Roulette has straight-forward rules that are simple to learn. Once you understand the different bets that can be placed and the few unique rules that exist in certain variations of the game, you will be able to enjoy this popular casino game.

Aim of the Game

The aim of the game of roulette is to correctly bet on the number or group of numbers that a ball will land on in a spinning wheel.

Beginning a Game of Roulette

Before you can begin the game, you will need to choose the variation of the game you want to play. The game of roulette starts with players placing their bets. All bets are placed on the roulette table in the spot corresponding to the number or group of numbers you are betting on. The roulette wheel will spin and when it stops and the ball comes to rest, players will be paid out.

If you are playing European roulette or French roulette it is important to be aware of the en prison and la partage rules as they can significantly improve your odds. Not all online casinos will offer these rules. The la partage rule states that if the player places an even money bet and the ball lands on the single zero, the player will lose only half his bet. The en prison rule states that if the player places an even money bet and the ball lands on the single zero, the player can claim half their bet or leave the bet en prison for the next spin. If the ball then lands on the single zero, the bet will be lost.
