Roulette is a popular casino table game. It is fast-paced and exciting attracting amateur and professional gamblers. It is a random game meaning that strategy cannot be employed to improve the outcome of your game.

Roulette Set-Up

Roulette includes a wheel with numbered slots, plus a table that depicts the different bets that can be placed. A small white ball is released into the spinning wheel. Players bet on the number or group of numbers that the ball will land on when the wheel comes to rest.

Roulette Variations

There are a number of different variations of the game of roulette and many casinos offer a wide range of these games. The most popular variation is European roulette which includes 37 numbered slots the numbers 1 through 36 plus a single 0. American roulette is also common and is similar to European roulette, except that it contains 38 numbered slots the numbers 1 through 36 plus a single 0 and a double 0. Other variations of the game include French roulette, Premium roulette games, roulette royale and mini roulette and 3D roulette which are unique to online casinos.

How to Play Roulette

To begin a game of roulette you must place your bet. These bets are placed on the roulette table in the spot that corresponds to the bet for the number or group of numbers on the wheel. There are a range of bets you can place with most variations of the game including five inside bets and five outside bets, although some variations offer more bets in each category, or even bets in a separate category, such as in French roulette.

Inside bets include straight bets, split bets, row bets, double row bets and corner bets. Outside bets include red or black bets, odd or even bets, high or low bets, column bets and dozen bets.

Depending on the variation you play, there may be additional bets that can be placed such as the five-numbered bet in American roulette or the call (announced) bets in French roulette. There also may be unique rules depending on the variation you choose to play, such as la partage rule or en prison rule available in European roulette and French roulette.

The small white ball will be released into the spinning roulette wheel. As the wheel comes to rest, the ball will land in one of the numbered slots. Once the wheel has stopped moving, players will be paid out.
