There are a number of different bets that can be placed in a game of roulette. There are typically five inside bets and five outside bets though this may vary slightly depending on the variation of the game you are playing. It is important to understand the rules of the bets and their odds before you begin playing.
Inside Bets
Inside bets include the bets that are placed within the numbered section of the roulette table.
- Straight bets placed on a specific number, these are placed on the number itself. They pay out at 35:1.
- Split bets a bet on two numbers adjacent to each other on the roulette table. The bet is placed on the line between the two numbers. They pay out at 17:1.
- Street bets these are bets on a row of 3 numbers on the roulette table. The bet is placed at the end of the row of numbers. They pay out at 11:1.
- Line bets these are bets on the six numbers found in two adjacent rows on the roulette table. The bet is placed on the line between the rows. They pay out at 5:1.
- Corner bets these are bets on the four numbers in the corner of a roulette table. The bet is placed in the center of the four numbers. They pay out at 8:1.
Outside Bets
Outside bets are bets that are placed on the periphery of the numbers on the roulette table.
- Red or black bets these are bets on the ball landing on a red or black number. The bet is placed on the square marked red or black. They pay out at 1:1.
- Odd or even bets these are bets on the ball landing on an odd number or an even number. The bet is placed on the squared marked odd or even. They pay out at 1:1.
- High or low bets these are bets on the ball landing on a low number (1-18) or a high number (19-36). The bet is placed on the square marked 1-18 or 19-36. They pay out at 1:1.
- Column bets these are bets on the numbers in a column. The bet is placed at the end of the column of 12 numbers. They pay out at 2:1.
- Dozen bets these are bets on a group of a dozen numbers. The bet is placed on the square marked 1st 12, 2nd 12 or 3rd 12. They pay out at 2:1.
