If you have even spent one hour of your life at an online casino or land casino, you'll agree with me that it's a lot of fun. Yes, these companies are in the business to make money but at the end of the day, it takes a lot of hard work, innovation and creativity to roll out top notch games every month of every year. It takes major effort to keep those ideas flowing so that you are kept both entertained and rewarded.
Which is why I felt that the Global Gaming Awards, held recently in Las Vegas, were such a good idea. Companies were honored for their hard work, recognized for their innovation and given a standing ovation for all that they do to create a successful billion dollar industry with thousands of games.
The Global Gaming Awards was split over 12 different categories, honoring both the online and land based gambling sectors. Some of the top names that stood out in the winners' categories included Microgaming and Net Entertainment.
Microgaming Wins for Best Digital Product
Even though I was not one of the 50 judges on the panel, I would have also handed Microgaming the award for Digital Product of the Year.
This group constantly amazes me with its incredible vision and ground breaking games, thanks to very impressive partnership deals signed with top brands throughout the year.
Microgaming was particularly recognized for its Terminator 2 online video slot which it launched in June, as well as its latest Jurassic Park slot which rolled out in August.
"It's an honor to take home the award for Digital Product of the Year," said the group's CEO, Roger Raatgever. "What makes the award so special is that it was voted for by a panel of judges which comprised some of the biggest names in the gaming industry. We've been recognized by our peers."
Net Ent is Big on Innovation
And here's another award I would have put my money on, hands down! Net Entertainment won the award for Digital Gaming Innovation of the Year - the perfect award for a group which does so much in the industry, with so much innovation.
"NetEnt prides itself on innovation and it's an honor to be recognized for our work at the Global Gaming Awards," was what Per Eriksson, President and CEO of NetEnt said after receiving the award. "We strongly encourage innovation and frequently organize internal activities to enhance it and our dedication to creativity allows us to continue to drive the online casino market forward."
Kudos to all the winners!
